Position Title: Sr. Application Developer (J2EE, WebLogic, Portal) - FT &
CT

General Accountability/Position Summary

This position will act as a Senior level Developer in the development
and support of e-Business web initiatives. This person will be expected to
work both independently or as a member of a team to assist in developing
Business Requirements, assist in the Architecture and the Design of the
solution in a J2EE/WebLogic environment, document the Specifications, write
the code and unit test the work.

This person will also be expected to be a mentor for the team, and
assist in planning for the future.

Specific Accountabilities

a.. Design and development of e-business applications
b.. Design and develop applications based on business and technical
requirements
c.. Provide timely updates to Manager, team-mates and business
clients
d.. Identify and define project tasks specific to application
development e.g. timelines, milestones etc. for planning Purposes
e.. Provide proofs of concept and pilot projects with new
technologies
f.. Research and Development on technologies and future direction
Team Leadership

a.. Provide technical designs and specifications to satisfy end user
requirement
b.. Provide mentorship for junior and intermediate developers
c.. Be the key contact for providing satisfactory responses and
suggested solutions to queries from end users and Business clients
d.. Lead, coordinate, and/or participate in analysis and design
activities, including working with the Technical Architect to assess
projects with respect to scope, timelines, methodologies and design
e.. Participate, manage and adhere to change management processes
based on company and AMVESCAP standards and guidelines
Technical architecture

a.. Be the Technical Architect's backup for system design and
security
b.. Assist with the implementation of project architecture,
standards and processes, design, documentation and deployment with the
Technical Architect
Requirements/Education

a.. 4 year Bachelor degree in Computer Science preferred
b.. 5 years experience in Application Development in a J2EE
environment
c.. 3 years experience in Application Development in a BEA WebLogic
Environment
d.. Advanced proficiency in Application Architecture, Analysis and
Design, J2EE development in a web-based environment
e.. Solid understanding of the BEA WebLogic Portal Framework
f.. Intermediate proficiency in Architecture Standards, Application
Development Methodology, Implementation Planning, Migration Planning, Data
Modeling
g.. Technical Abilities and/or other Specialized Skills
h.. Microsoft Windows is required
i.. Advanced proficiency in Java, J2EE, J2EE Design Pattern, UML,
EJB, JSP, ServLet, JDBC, JNDI, Struts, Weblogic, Portal, Oracle, SQL, all in
a web-based environment
j.. Intermediate proficiency in Architect, JMS ' Messaging, JVM
Optimization, Java Mail, Multi Thread Application, XML, PL/SQL, DB
Transaction, RDBMS, SQL/PL-SQL Optimization, Oracle data types, Unix, Linux,
HTML, CSS, JavaScript
k.. ANY experience in database admin or WebSphere would be great
asset.
