Position: J2EE Application Developer

Position Type: Permanent

Location: GTA

Job Description:

a.. Capture business and technical requirements as the Information
Technology representative on cross-functional project teams.
b.. Translate these requirements to application architecture and design.
c.. Analyze applications and their support processes, recommend
modifications, and create definitive process and technical documentation
d.. Deliver unit tested code for all functions as assigned in accordance
with RBS IT Development Methodology and Programming Standards
e.. Assist the Team Lead/Manager in preparation of effort estimated for
projects, including high level analysis and impact to other activities
f.. Carry out detailed analysis and design tasks for those functions and
subsystems assigned by the Team Lead/Manager
g.. Assist in creating test environments and carrying out system testing
tasks
h.. Participate in the implementation process with Team Lead/Manager,
including such activities as preparation of implementation requests for hand
over to Operations
i.. Availability to perform rotating on-call support upon request
j.. Establish personal and team expertise in the provisioning and
diagnostics environments.
k.. Form and enhance relationships with other departments
Qualifications:

a.. University degree in Computer Science or equivalent work related
experience required
b.. Object oriented application design & development framework
c.. Java Technologies (J2SE, J2EE, EJB, JDBC, Sockets, Java servlets,
Reflection, Struts) (3-5 years)
d.. XML, HTML
e.. Oracle PL-SQL and general Oracle/database expertise
f.. Experience working in the following environments: Weblogic, Oracle,
and Unix
g.. Design experience in large/complex environments
h.. Understanding of the key architecture considerations/issues associated
with distributed client/server and web infrastructures
i.. 3-5 years of enterprise on programming and business analysis
experience preferably with web based applications required.
j.. Java development experience
k.. Application design and implementation experience in a Unix/windows
environment required.
l.. Strong focus on understanding and improving business processes
required.
m.. Excellent communication (written, verbal, presentation), negotiation
and interpersonal skills
n.. Ability to work within a dynamic fast paced environment and ability to
meet deadlines
o.. Good knowledge of techniques and methodology of programming
p.. Good analytical and problem-solving skills
q.. Reliability and dedication is a must
r.. Ability to think logically
s.. Telecommunications industry experience is an asset
Nice to have:

a.. Prior working experience in billing applications
b.. Amdocs Ensemble experience, preferably of the Price Plan area and MPS
c.. Shell scripting experience
d.. Rules engine experience
e.. Perl experience
f.. Open source frameworks experience (like struts, spring, etc)
g.. Ecplise experience
h.. Weblogic Portal experience
i.. Knowledge of Spring Framework
j.. Knowledge of Jakarta POI API
